Lily Schreyer painting up for bid at Tim Isaac auction
Painting proceeds to benefit loal Habitat for Humanity affiliate

Habitat for Humanity, Saint John Region Inc., is very pleased to announce that, for the second year in a row, it has received a painting by Lily Schreyer, for use in fundraising.

Painting by Lily SchreyerLily Schreyer, wife of former Governor General, the Right Honourable Ed Schreyer (1979 – 84) donated several original paintings to Habitat for Humanity, Canada, for promotion and fundraising purposes. A draw was held among the Canadian affiliates and Saint John was one of the lucky beneficiaries. The other winners are Habitat affiliates: Brant; Dufferin-Caledon; Lloydminster; Moncton; Niagara; and Toronto.

The painting will be auctioned at Tim Isaac’s annual Easter auction on Monday, April 12, at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre, with the painting proceeds going to the Saint John Habitat affilliate. Funds raised will help buy land and those building materials and services which are not donated.

“We are extremely grateful to Mrs. Schreyer for her generous donation. It is a gorgeous work of art, representative of our Maritime identity, and it will help tremendously with our fundraising efforts, “ said Debbie Rice, president of Habitat for Humanity, Saint John Region Inc. “We also want to thank Tim Isaac for his gracious donation of services, and for including the painting in his upcoming auction.”

The Schreyers have championed the Habitat for Humanity cause since 1993, when they joined with Rosalynn and Jimmy Carter to build houses for Habitat as part of the Jimmy Carter Work Project. The Schreyers continue to graciously donate their time to build along with Habitat affiliates and to increase the profile of Habitat for Humanity.

Lily Schreyer began painting as a child. In addition to her support of Habitat for Humanity, and as a result of her long-time interest in arts and crafts, she works tirelessly to raise the visibility and accomplishments of Canadian crafts artists. She has been very generous in donating to charity the proceeds from the sale of her own paintings.
